Day 1: Bako Wildlife & Permai Rainforest
You will be picked up around 7.45am and transferred to Bako Jetty. Guest(s) will travel 30-40 minutes by road to a village nestled by a river, where guest(s) board a small boat to travel upstream and reach Park HQ in the most daring way possible. As guest(s) approach the national park, the striking rock formations will quickly catch their attention.
In the National Park, guest(s) will be able to see wildlife thriving in this dynamic landscape, from the ubiquitous long tailed macaque to the elusive silver leaf monkey and the iconic proboscis monkey, with around 275 individuals living in the area. These charming creatures can often be seen swinging through the trees or lounging in the mangroves.
Other notable residents of the park include the bearded wild boar, the largest resident mammal, and the charming silver leaf monkey, although they may show their shyness by urinating if they feel threatened. Visitors can also see flying squirrels, flying lemurs, otters, tarsiers, slow loris, and various species of birds, both resident and migratory, adding to the charm of Bako’s rich biodiversity. Our experienced park guide will show you the path to look for the iconic Green-pit viper. Not to forget, the region’s rich fauna adds to the captivating blend of vibrant jungles and seaside beauty, Bako’s true colours will come to light with every head turn.
After the hiking, guests will take the boat and will be back to Jetty. Our driver then transfer guests to Permai rainforest and help to check in to your designated room either in the treehouse or jungle villa. Enjoy the evening on your own at free and relax. Get a shower in jungle pool. Enjoy the sunset from the private beach.
Day 2: Bengoh Valley Adventure & Mountain Homestay
At 7.00am breakfast will be served at Tree-café, usually a buffet and with low occupancy a la carte. After breakfast, you may relax and explore the rainforest. There are few organised trails and guests can take a shorter trail to the waterfall (Self guided walk). After the hike, you can freshen up and check out by 10.00am. Our vehicle will be there and will drive you to Bengoh jetty, about 2 hours journey.
Take our boat to the valley. Enjoy the scenic boat ride before having lunch at the hiking entry point. After lunch, it is time to hike to the waterfall and explore Jurassic of Sarawak. At the late afternoon, we will take a short boat to arrive at the mountain village, there will be a short hike to go up to the village. Around 4:00pm check in our homestay, freshen up and rest. At 6.00pm go to Tanju for sunset. Dinner will be served at 7.30pm. After dinner just easy and relax.
Day 3: Batang Ai Headhunters Village
Wake up early to enjoy sunrise view from the mountain. After the sunrise, your breakfast will be served. Check out from homestay and go down from the mountain for a short boat ride. The boat will arrive at the jetty where our driver will pick you up. Enjoy the view from the boat.
Our next destination is Batang Ai reservoir. Along the way, the trip will stop at Lachau Bazaar at 11.00am. Stroll around the shops and the small native market and have an early lunch in a local coffee shop. Then, the journey will continue till we arrive at Batang Ai Lake around 1.30pm - 2.00pm. We will directly depart from Pangkalan Batang Ai for a scenic 90 minutes boat ride. Settle in at Mahligai Ijok and freshen up. There will be a short tea break and an explanation about your activities in the village. Dinner will be served at 7.30pm with ethnic food. At 8.30pm you will visit the longhouse. Spend time with the headhunters. Learn about their culture, customs and stories. They will offer you some local rice wine known as Tuak. At 10.00pm get your bed ready and leisure and prepare for next day's adventure.
Day 4 : Jungle Trekking & Rainforest Adventure
Breakfast will be served at 7.30am. After breakfast, you will get a short boat ride where our jungle trail starts. Hike the jungle trails along the river and search for Orangutan and monkeys. This is the only place in Sarawak where you can find wild orangutan. Then continue upriver by longboat. The destination is scenic Waterfall. Along the way if the water level is suitable then the boatman will demonstrate fishing Iban Style using a fishing net (Jala). Catch the fish for our BBQ. After arriving at the waterfall, you can enjoy the waterfall and river. Then we prepare our picnic lunch with chicken, fish, local vegetable and more. Swim in the river and relish the peaceful rainforest surroundings and enjoy the food at the riverbank.
Return back to the village around 3.00pm. After freshen up you can relax on the Ruai (common Verandah). We will demonstrate village activity. Spend time with the Iban kids and create memories. Dinner will be served at 7.30pm. There will be a small night walk with our experienced local guide upon request (this is an optional activity with no extra charge but upon availability and weather condition). Please make sure you have a proper shoes suitable for mud and water trails. If the night walk is not possible, we will arrange a cultural program for you (no extra charge).
Day 5 : Farewell & Back to Kuching
Breakfast will be served in the lodge at 7.30am. Have a last short self-walk in the village (Self walk or with local guide). At 9.00am you will get our boat to Batang Ai jetty. We start our journey from jetty to Kuching around 11.00am. After 2 hours of drive, we will stop at Serian for refueling and lunch in a local restaurant. Estimated time of arrival at city will be 3.30pm.
