Day 1 - Welcome to Batang Ai
You will be picked-up from their hotel around 9:00am and driven to Batang Ai reservoir. Along the way, the trip will stop at Lachau Bazaar at 11.00am. Stroll around the shops and the small native market and have an early lunch in a local restaurant.
Then, the journey will continue till we arrive at Batang Ai Lake around 1.30pm – 2.00pm. We will directly depart from Pangkalan Batang Ai and be transferred by traditional wooden longboat from Batang Ai Hydro Jetty to Headhunter Longhouse. The scenic journey takes approximately 90 minutes. Upon arrival around 3:30 PM, you will be welcomed by the longhouse Chief and enjoy a short tea break before settling into their accommodation. After freshening up, you’ll have time to explore the surroundings. Dinner will be served at 7:30 PM, featuring local ethnic dishes. The evening is free for leisure, with lights out around 9:30 PM.
Day 2 - Into the Wild: Orangutan, Jungle Trail, Rainforest Waterfall
Breakfast will be served at 7.30am. After breakfast, you will get a short boat ride where our jungle trail starts. Hike the jungle trails along the river and search for Orangutan and monkeys. This is the only place in Sarawak where you can find wild orangutan. Then continue upriver by longboat. The destination is scenic Waterfall. Along the way if the water level is suitable then the boatman will demonstrate fishing Iban Style using a fishing net (Jala). Catch the fish for our BBQ. After arriving at the waterfall, you can enjoy the waterfall and river. Then we prepare our picnic lunch with chicken, fish, local vegetable and more. Swim in the river and relish the peaceful rainforest surroundings and enjoy the food at the riverbank.
Return back to the village around 3.00pm. After freshen up you can relax on the Ruai (common Verandah). We will demonstrate village activity. Spend time with the Iban kids and create memories. Dinner will be served at 7.30pm. There will be a small night walk with our experienced local guide upon request (this is an optional activity with no extra charge but upon availability and weather condition). Please make sure you have a proper shoes suitable for mud and water trails. If the night walk is not possible, we will arrange a cultural program for you (no extra charge).
Day 3 - Farewell & Back To Kuching
Breakfast will be served at 7:00 AM, followed by a short farewell walk in the village. At 9:00 AM, guests will depart by longboat to Batang Ai Hydro Jetty, arriving around 10:00 AM -11:00 AM. We start our journey from jetty to Kuching and will stop at Serian for refueling and then lunch in a local restaurant. We will arrive in the city by the late afternoon.
